Epicenter Innovation at CEMC 2023
What Happened & What to Take Away
Several weeks ago, Epicenter Innovation had the privilege of exhibiting and presenting at the Colorado Emergency Management Conference in Loveland, CO. We wanted to share some of the highlights of the event and some of the biggest takeaways we learned from the experience:
- First and foremost, we exhibited! We were thrilled to be an exhibitor for the second year in a row at this conference. We hope to have given all attendees who passed by our table plenty of information about our Epicenter Deployment Support Unit and the Resilience Innovator Type Assessment. If you were there and want to follow up with us, you can set up a 15-minute call to learn what we do here.
- Our CEO & Founder Christopher Tarantino gave the closing keynote. His talk, centered on the traits that foster resilience & innovation through a story about the Fireweed plant, got folks thinking about their personal resilience. If you want to know more, check out this free webinar.
- Our Operations Coordinator Shawn Gerard gave a presentation about the value of assessments with some additional information about the Resilience Innovator Type Assessment. To learn more about the research behind the assessment, check out this article about our project!
- Resilience & Innovation: These were hot topics across sessions and in the exhibit hall. With an entire track dedicated to resilience, it’s clearly becoming a priority in communities across Colorado.
- Leadership in Emergency Management: This was a subject that also experienced some great discussion. From making the traditional EM role more accessible to asking questions about where EMs can help in other sectors (and what we can learn from other sectors, too!), transforming leadership into something even more impactful was a common theme.
- Bringing Innovation & Thought Collaboration Home: The closing session of the conference was a great experience. A round-table team problem-solving in a systemic format was powerful. Everyone walked away with actionable first steps to solve some of EM’s biggest problems. The big takeaway was “even if you can’t solve these problems for all of emergency management, if you approach them right, you can make headway in your organization.”
