Epicenter Innovation at AHIMTA 2023

Several weeks ago, Epicenter Innovation had the privilege of exhibiting and presenting at the All-Hazards Incident Management Team Association’s Annual Conference in Long Beach, CA. We wanted to share some of the highlights of the event and some of the biggest takeaways we learned from the experience:

1. First and foremost, we exhibited! We were thrilled to be an exhibitor for the second year in a row at this conference. We hope to have given all attendees who passed by our table plenty of information about our Epicenter Deployment Support Unit and the Resilience Innovator Type Assessment. 2. Our CEO & Founder Christopher Tarantino gave the closing keynote. His talk, centered on the traits that foster resilience & innovation through a story about the Fireweed plant, got folks thinking about their personal resilience. If you want to know more, check out this free webinar.
3. Lessons Learned: “Lessons Learned” and after actions seemed to be the hottest subject at this year’s event. Many presentations were centered on past incidents and how the presenters and their teammates worked to solve problems related to those incidents. This is a big part of our job, so it makes sense that after actions, both formal and informal, took center stage at this year’s conference. Hopefully you continue leveraging this network to improve your teams across the country!
4. Leadership in Incident Management: This was a subject that saw attention in sessions and in-app discussions. Building team cohesion by enhancing trust and strengthening relationships were some common themes in the Leadership & Organization track sessions, and the AHIMTA Professional Reading List was shared as a resource in the app!
5. AHIMTA Qualification System: This new system was announced just a week ago, and we’d be surprised if you missed it! As things with the roll out of this system get underway, be sure to continue providing your feedback and thinking about how this might affect your team and the communities you serve.
