Is This For Me?
Accessibility for EM Practitioners
Making our plans and response more accessible for those in our community is in focus right now. But are we as practitioners doing enough to make the profession accessible? That’s the big question that Charlotte Stasio and Bryan Russell asked in their webinar “Is this for Me?”
By the end of the webinar, you’ll learn:
- Ask how we can make our EOCs more accessible
- Offer clarity on the benefits of telework for inclusivity
- Provide examples of places that are doing it right
- Address how to harness the power of leadership from the disability community for EM
Charlotte Stasio excels at engaging local community and public safety stakeholders. Her professional experience includes developing doctrine for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and coordinating a workgroup building policy and planning guidance for jurisdictions in the National Capital Region. Stasio is a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) and works as a first responder for an emergency medical services provider in Philadelphia. She represents Griffin across many forums to promote the firm’s mission to improve access and inclusion in emergency management and public safety.
Bryan Russell is the Emergency Management Coordinator with Disability Rights Florida where he works to ensure the needs of persons with disabilities and their caregivers are included in emergency preparedness, response and recovery efforts across the state. Prior to this role, Bryan was the Program Manager for the Florida Department of Health’s Disability and Health Program where he focused on adapting and implementing public health interventions for persons with disabilities. During emergencies and disasters, Bryan serves as the State Access Coordinator with the Florida State Emergency Response Team providing guidance and recommendations to ensure the needs of persons with access and functional needs are met during all phases of disasters.
